Full Metal JacketFull Metal Jacket (1987)

IMDB rating: 8.20

Plot: Full Metal Jacket begins by following the trials and tribulations of a platoon of fresh Marine Corps recruits focusing on the relationship between Gunnery Sergeant Hartman and Privates Pyle and Joker. We see Pyle grow into an instrument of death as Hartman has forseen of all of his recruits. Through Pyle’s torment and Joker’s unwillingness to stand up against it the climax of part one is achieved with all three main characters deciding their fates by their action or inaction. The second chapter of Full Metal Jacket delves into Joker’s psyche and the repeated referal to the fact that he joined the Corps to become a killer. When his mostly behind the scenes job as a combat correspondant is interfered with by the Tet offensive he is thrust into real combat and ultimately must choose if he really is a killer.

Legal Searching In School?
I asked this question already but only got three answers. I know that just because you don’t have as much rights at schools doesn’t make all searches legal. To search personal items they have to have reason to believe you have something you shouldn’t(metal detectors detecting metal would be a good reason but that is not what happened). Lockers belong to school, not your purse an bookbags. When they searched us we were entering the door are things were not even in our lockers.
So what happened to me was a yearly metal detector search at our school(nobody knows the date each year though). When we entered the door we had to put our purses, bookbags, a zip up binders. At first I thought it was because of zippers, but it wasn’t because we could pass through with the zippers on our jackets. They searched every pocket inside and out of our purses, bookbags, and zip up binders. I didn’t have anything I shouldn’t have but I did have personal items(which I needed, some may know what I mean, so don’t tell me I should leave them at home). I felt like an invasion of my privacy. I was shaking uncontrollably because I had never had my things searched like that(that was my first full year at the school). Is there any laws that make this legal. In my opinion if there are they are stupid, because school shouldn’t mean you get your rights taken away.

Minors have very few privacy rights and schools have the absolute right to search your possessions before allowing you to enter. The school can even search your person if there’s reasonable suspicion that you have contraband.
